"MAKE YOURSELVES RELEVANT TO THE NEEDS OF CITIZENS" - MULONGOTI

Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industry Permanent Secretary, Mr John Mulongoti has urged the ZMA to expand its services to other measurement areas.

Ministry of Commerce, Trade, and Industry Permanent Secretary, Mr John Mulongoti has urged the ZMA to expand its services to other measurement areas.

“Technology is moving faster than policy and so, there is a need for institutions to make themselves relevant to the current needs of its citizens,” said Mr Mulongoti.

The Permanent Secretary further stated that there is a need to harmonise the measurement systems and methods used in the local public markets and chain stores as well as tap into new areas such as frequency and time.

He said this when he toured the ZMA Stands under the MCTI One-Stop-Shop exhibition at the ongoing Western Province Tourism, Trade, and Investment Expo in Mongu.

And responding to the Permanent Secretary’s concerns, ZMA Acting Executive Director Mr Humphrey Nkobeni said the Agency is closely following and monitoring sectors that require metrology attention, such as utility sectors like electricity and water, as well as agricultural farming inputs ahead of the farming season.

Mr Nkobeni assured the Permanent Secretary and the attendants that the Agency shall continue to look into the new areas and provide services that are relevant to the needs of the Zambian community.

The ZMA is exhibiting at the Western Province Tourism, Trade and Investment Expo from 10 -15 October 2022.
