ZMA FORMS INTEGRITY COMMITTEE

Following Government’s call for all Institutions to establish Integrity Committees at the workplace, the Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) appointed staff members that would constitute the ZMA Integrity Committee.

Following Government’s call for all Institutions to establish Integrity Committees at the workplace, the Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA) appointed staff members that would constitute the ZMA Integrity Committee.

This follows a meeting held by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) at Mulungushi International Conference Centre on 11 August 2022 whose theme was anchored on the Promotion of an Ethical Organisational culture.

The training which took place from 17 – 21 October 2022 at Legacy Resort and Conferencing Centre and Mika Convention Centre in Chongwe saw ZMA members trained by the ACC on preventing corrupt practices and upholding integrity in the workplace.

Speaking on behalf of the ACC Director General at the close of the training session, Director of Corruption Prevention Mrs Glenda Mungalaba congratulated the Agency for completing the training programme and taking a keen interest to learn more about corruption issues and the Integrity building of an institution.

She said the resolve by the Agency’s management and employees, including the participation of the Acting Corporate Services Director, to undertake and complete the training was a great indication of ZMA’s commitment to handling integrity and joining the nation’s fight against corruption.

Mrs Mungalaba urged the committee to continue working as a team to publicise the existence and activities of the Integrity Committee to foster support internally and as well as externally from members of the public.

And speaking on behalf of the ZMA, Acting Executive Director, Mr Humphrey Nkobeni, said he was excited that the Agency undertook the training by ACC on corruption prevention and integrity.

The Acting Executive Director said that Integrity, which is one of the Agency’s core values as stipulated in its strategic plan, is critical for the Agency’s success.

He stated that the training has come at a time when the Agency has positioned itself to play significant roles in several national sensitive programmes such as the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) and the support to Fuel marking at the border points.

Mr Nkobeni assured the ACC that ZMA management would support its Integrity Committee to ensure that the skills learnt are put into practice for the benefit of the Agency’s members.

The ZMA Acting Executive Director thanked the ACC facilitators for the work done in building capacity and further encouraged other institutions to take up the training.

Speaking on behalf of the ZMA Integrity Committee, ZMA Acting Director Legal Metrology Dr Michael Kalumbu Nsefu thanked ZMA management and the ACC for facilitating the training.

Dr Nsefu said the committee will ensure that the lessons drawn from the training will be publicised to other members of staff as well as the public to reassure the Agency’s stakeholders of its commitment to driving the nation’s developmental agenda.

He further asked that the ACC continue to work with the Agency’s Integrity Committee to ensure that all requirements and procedures are adhered to as the committee commences its activities.
